Nicole Richie to Launch Maternity Line
Hello Fashionistas!
Nicole Richie is known for being a boho chic fashion trendsetter. This has not changed with pregnancy. With her first child, Harlow Winter Kate Madden, now over a year old, Richie merged the world of fashion and motherhood. Now pregnant with her second child she is transcending the standards she set the first time. She is partnering with A Pea in the Pod and designing her own line of maternity wear due out by the end of summer.

There is no doubt that Richie’s godfather, Michael Jackson has played a role in her trend setting fashion sense. Although she claims she doesn't yet know the sex of her unborn child, it is rumored that Nicole Richie will name it after ‘The King of Pop’, we will just have to wait and see.

Brüno- More about Shock Value, Less about Fashion
Hello Fashionistas!
In the true Sacha Baron Cohen fashion Brüno is so much more about shock value than fashion. Although the main character is presented as a gay fashionista the movie is more about the extreme intolerance of gays than anything else. Though the movie did receive some laughs from the packed theater, over all it was nothing more than Cohen's attempt to expose stupidity and ignorance in the most shocking way possible. It was entertaining but if you thought Borat was shocking and vulgar at times this film crosses all the inappropriate lines left uncrossed. Seriously, leave the kids at home!

A Day at the Museum
Hello Fashionistas!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has a fantastic Art exhibit on Fashion called "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion" It explores the model's role in advancing fashion and fashion designers. The exhibit begins with a life size representation of an iconic photograph featuring a dress made by Christian Dior assisted by Yves Saint Laurent surrounded by elephants. The exhibit takes us on a time line beginning with the emergence of recognizable models to the super models of our time. Appropriately, just a the exhibit begins, it ends with Dior's 2008 Fall/Winter Huate Couture line. If you're in Manhattan it is a must see for the fashionista!

Vintage Fashion
Hello Fashionistas!
Vintage clothing is getting the upscale online treatment now that 1st Dibs, the site that revolutionized the interiors business, has added designer vintageto its offerings. Resurrection, The Paper Bag Princess, and The Way We Wore are the L.A. stores participating in the new venture. Items reach into the five figures, such as an Hermes Birkin bag priced at $60,000, but many of the frocks sell at under $1,000, like a $550 Gaultier dress. It’s true that most vintage dealers have e-commerce sites of their own, but 1st Dibs aggregates designer goods from a dozen international dealers of 1920s to 1990s clothing in one place, and gives them the added allure of a nod from Clair Watson, a vintage expert who has worked at major museums and auction houses. Doris Raymond, owner of The Way We Wore, says the partnership allows her to keep her more rarified items off the racks of her La Brea Avenue store--which means they haven’t been tried on over and over by the hoi polloi.

She will add a handful of new items each week to the site. A notable absence from the list of boutiques is that of Decades. It’s not that owner Cameron Silver wasn’t asked, though. “I think vintage is becoming too ubiquitous and want Decades to remain exclusive and still feel like a special discovery, both as a destination and with what we sell,” Cameron emailed me last week from the Paris haute couture. “We've had our blog since 2006, which is a phenomenally successful selling tool that doesn't require an advertising fee.” - Laurie Pike

Hello Fashionistas!
Whenever the time rolls around for Paris Fashion week I always seem to get excited and anxious to view the new lines by my favorite designers. Although I am not the actual customer of these fashion houses, i do enjoy critiquing and admiring all the new trends. This year's Paris fashion shows were no different.
French designer Christian Lacroix, delivered what could be his last haute couture show; Karl Lagerfeld presented a collection featuring classic Chanel tweed skirt suits with a twist, while Givenchy runway featured chiffon draped goddesses adorned with metal studs and gold spikes.
Everything was absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to go shopping and create similar looks for thousands less!! Maybe one day I will actually be able to shop straight off the runway... (a girl can always dream)

King of Pop is also the King of Style
Hello Fashionistas!
We all know that today is the King of Pop’s Memorial at Staples Center. Among those who saluted Jackson were Rev. Al Sharpton, basketball stars Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant, along with musical performances by Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder. An estimated 20,000 people were in the Staples Center. Since I am a Los Angeles resident myself, I assumed that the traffic today would be extra congested and over packed which is why I left my house an hour earlier to go to work. But to my surprise, traffic was much lighter than usual! I suppose the people got the message to stay home. In honor of the King of Pop, I have decided to do a little montage of MJ’s most memorable fashion moments.
Regardless of your particular opinion of Michael Jackson, it is undeniable that he has driven fashion and style to a whole new level. From his bell-bottoms and Afro as a child star to his current military inspired suits, his fashion statements have been ground-breaking and influential to us all.

7 Things Every Girl Should Have In Their Closet This SUMMER!
The Long Dress aka Maxi-Dress
I’ve seen this at almost every store- from good ole Target to hip Forever 21 to more upscale boutiques like Veronica M. It’s funny because this trend has carried on from last summer of 2008. Long dresses are perfect for warm weather, not to mention they are comfortable and flattering for any body type!
Gladiator Sandals
Another item that was hot last summer and is still in style this summer! What I love about gladiator sandals is that they match with almost everything- a pair of skinny jeans, a cute summer dress, or even shorts or a skirt. LOVE the versatility!
High-Waisted/Tulip Skirt
Anything from corduroy to floral print would be hot for this summer. The high-waisted skirt is like last year's pencil skirt.
Jumpsuit
Even celebrities like Blake Lively have been spotted wearing this hot new item.
Blazer
Ok so leather jackets definitely made its statement last fall/winter, but blazers are coming back as well!
Mini-Dress
A piece that never goes out of style for any summer!
Statement Headband
Ladies, you know you see these in almost every fashion store! They make a boring outfit funkier. Urban Outfitters & Forever 21 has tons of cute headbands (some decorating with flowers, feathers. etc)
